Are You Secured Against Ransomware?

Written by Jeremy Fuchs | July 7, 2022

Ransomware continues to rear its ugly head.

In Q1 of 2022, according to researchers, ransomware detections have risen by 80%. This is three times the amount of Q1 of 2021.

The researchers break this down even further. In Q1 of 2022, WatchGuard detected 2,365 cases of ransomware. In all of 2021, that number was 1,313. The current record is 4,845 detections, which occurred in 2018.

What does this mean? It means that doubling down on your defenses is critical. It starts with stopping phishing, which remains the number one cause of ransomware. That means preventing inbox incursions, not responding after the fact. It starts with a complete malware prevention program that covers all lines of business communication.

If we're due for a record year in ransomware, then it's past time to be ready. Are you?
