Avanan now allows customers to skip security modifications for S/MIME-signed emails, preserving message authenticity when needed.
Many organizations use S/MIME to sign emails with digital signatures, helping recipients verify that messages haven’t been altered. However, common email security actions—like adding banners, rewriting URLs, or removing risky attachments—can invalidate these signatures and trigger warnings to end users. To address this, Avanan now supports an option to skip such modifications for S/MIME-signed messages.
This capability is especially useful in environments where maintaining trust in signed communications is critical—such as legal, financial, or governmental sectors. While skipping modifications may reduce protection for these specific messages, some organizations may prioritize usability and signature integrity. For that reason, this option is available upon request.
To enable this option, organizations should contact Check Point Support and request S/MIME skip-modification activation for their environment.
