Avanan now introduces the ability to define Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies based on file types across all supported SaaS applications.
This enhancement allows organizations to enforce stricter data controls by blocking or alerting on specific file types, regardless of their content. It applies consistently across Microsoft 365 email, Gmail, OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, and other integrated SaaS applications.
With file type-based matching, administrators can prevent sensitive or risky file types - such as executables, archives, or other defined formats - from being shared or sent, reducing the chance of data leakage or malware distribution. This provides stronger protection against insider threats, compliance violations, and accidental exposure of sensitive data.
To enable this capability, navigate to your DLP policy settings, open DLP Criteria, toggle the File Type option, and enter the specific file extensions you wish to control.
